Brachioplasty
(Arm Lift)
This procedure is used to remove excess skin commonly referred to as "bat wings".
Is it safe?
It is a very safe and satisfying procedure and usually performed under general anesthesia.
What is it for?
It is used to remove the excess skin that people get usually after a large weight loss or due to aging. It is actually excess skin that cannot be reduced with exercise. The negative is that a large incision is usually made from the armpit to the elbow. Sometimes, liposuction is a better alternative than an arm tuck, but this cannot be determined until the patient is seen for consultation. The patient will need to use a compression type of dressing for at least 1 week following surgery.
New Tecnique to minimize scarring...
The new Mini Incision. The incision is hidden in the armpit. This is sometimes an option when combined with liposuction. Probably 50% of all patients are candidates for this new procedure.
